Abstract
The influence of solvent nature and light upon electronic absorption s pectra of nystatin was studied. The variation of spectral parameters i n several organic solvents (dimethylsulfoxide, dimethylformamide, meth anol, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, dichlorometane, chloroform, carbon tet rachloride and acetonitrile) is discussed in terms of solute - solvent interactions and conformational changes of tetraenic chromophore indu ced by them. The stability of nystatin both during storing and under U V irradiation has been considered as a confirmation of the structural flexibility of the molecule.
