ASYMPTOTIC-EXPANSION OF THE WASHOUT FUNCTION FOR STIRRED TANKS-IN-SERIES

This paper demonstrates that the washout function for a flow system in volving a number of stirred tanks-in-series can be approximated throug h asymptotic expansion. The resultant infinite series is in descending order of the number of stirred tanks, m; it is useful for estimating the washout function when m is large. In fact, when m approaches infin ity, the series approaches the step function.
