Experimental data on the kinetics of the hydrogenation of aromatic mon
onitro compounds in a flow gradientless reactor is analyzed. Equations
describing the stage process of the conversion of the starting nitro
compound into the corresponding amine via the intermediate arylhydroxy
lamine in the presence of supported porous catalysts of the Pt group a
t a normal hydrogen pressure are obtained, allowing for the internal d
iffusion of the reagents in the pores of the support particles. The ef
fective rate constants and other rate law parameters are determined. I
t is shown that the reduction proceeds in the region controlled by hyd
rogen diffusion in the pores of the catalyst particles until the start
ing nitro compound is completely consumed. The transition into the kin
etic region is possible on the catalysts with low metal contents (belo
w 0.2-0.3%) with a particle size of less than 100 mu m.
