T. Kijima et Y. Nakase, MONTE-CARLO CALCULATIONS OF THE BEHAVIOR OF 300 KEV ELECTRONS FROM ACCELERATORS, Radiation measurements, 26(2), 1996, pp. 159-168
A Monte Carlo method for the passage of electrons based on a single sc
attering model has been developed. A code constructed is operable on p
ersonal computers, and has been applied to analyze electron behavior i
n a layered system consisting of Ti (an accelerator window), air, CTA
and backing material irradiated by 300 keV electrons, in the static an
d dynamic irradiation. The energy spectra and the angular distribution
s of electrons at the CTA surface as well as depth distributions of en
ergy deposition in the CTA layer of 114 mu m thickness placed on vario
us backing materials have been obtained. The backscattering coefficien
ts for various backing materials have been calculated. These results i
ndicate that the characteristics of the electrons at the forward surfa
ce of CTA in the dynamic irradiation are similar to those of the elect
rons diffusely incident on the backing material. Some of these results
are in good agreement with our experiments.
