Abstract
In 93 cases of streptococcal mastitis in dairy cows 106 streptococci-i solates were differentiated and clinical parameters as well as macrosc opical milk qualities were evaluated, The most common species found wa s S, uberis (65 isolates, 61.3%), followed by S, acidominimus and S, d ysgalactiae, Regarding the clinical signs there were more cases of acu te catarrhal (69%) than parenchymatous mastitis (29%) or galactophorit is (2%), The macroscopic quality of the mastitic milk varied, but 50% of the milk samples contained flocks, According to the isolated strain s aspects of pathogenesis, therapy and prophylaxis from acute streptoc occal mastitis as well as their meaning as a causative agent of zoonos is are discussed.
