A. Aslam et al., PEROPERATIVE I-123 MIBG SCAN USING A STERILE PROBE FOR STAGING AND RESECTION OF NEUROBLASTOMA IN CHILDREN, Journal of pediatric surgery, 31(5), 1996, pp. 719-720
Two children with neuroblastoma were treated at Bristol Children's Hos
pital, One had primary resection of a right adrenal tumor; the other h
ad resection of a secondary lymph node located in the left supraclavic
ular fossa. In both cases, the patients received I-123-meta-iodobenzyl
guanidine (MIBG) preoperatively, and a sterlizable, hand-held Cadmium-
Telluride (CdTe) solid-state detector was used for localization of the
tumor. The surgical procedure was facilitated significantly by this p
eroperative radioisotope-guided technique. (C) 1996 by W.B. Saunders C
