INFLUENCE OF GEAR ERRORS ON ACCELERATION NOISE FROM SPUR GEARS

In this paper, using the theory of sound radiated from the impact of t wo cylinders side by side and regarding the meshing impulse of two gea rs as that of two cylinders with variable curvature radii, an acoustic al model is established for acceleration noise from meshing impulse of spur gears and the mechanism of radiating acceleration noise and the influence of gear errors on acceleration noise are studied theoretical ly. Then a program for calculating acceleration noise is presented and the influence of several kinds of spur gear errors on the noise is di scussed. The conclusions are drawn by comparing the measured results w ith the theoretical ones. (C) 1996 Acoustical Society of America.
