Abstract
This paper presents an analytical approach for analyzing the mean pack et delay and mean queue length at the transmitting terminal in wireles s packet networks using the selective repeat (SR) automatic repeat req uest (ARQ) scheme to control the errors introduced by the nonstationar y transmission channel. Each transmitting terminal is modeled as a dis crete time queue with an infinite buffer. The nonstationary transmissi on channel is modeled as a two-state Markov chain. Comparisons of nume rical predictions and simulation results are presented to highlight th e accuracy of the proposed analytical approach.
