Abstract
The pregnancy diagnosis is of great interest for the veterinary specia list in small animals and for the pets' owner. Nevertheless it is freq uently difficult to made a pregnancy diagnosis without having an accur ate and precocius method. In this review, a critical analysis of the d ifferent methods was done in the aim of evaluate theirs respective int erests. The abdominal palpation, the radiographic examn, the auscultat ion, the Doppler effect, the haematologic (haematocrit and blood formu le), laparoscopic, biochemical (C-reactive protein and fibrinogen) and hormonal (relaxin, prolactin and progesterone) methods and the echogr aphy are analysed in details with theirs advantages and disadvantages. The future perspectives are also presented.
