Ra. Ford et al., EFFECTS OF COORDINATE TRANSFORMATION AND DIFFERENCING SCHEMES ON MATRIX STRUCTURE AND CONVERGENCE HISTORY, Applied mathematics and computation, 77(1), 1996, pp. 53-66
Convergence history and its dependence on the direction of discretizat
ion are investigated when a boundary value problem is given in a curvi
linear domain and the finite differences procedure is used. An attempt
is made to determine the best relaxation direction when a near-optima
l relaxation parameter is employed. Results emphasize the critical rol
e of the grid aspect ratio.
