The state-of-the-art and the advances that marked the two recent decad
es in the synthesis and application of thermally stable siloxane and f
luorocarbon elastomers are reviewed. The main trend consists in changi
ng the priorities-from aerospace technologies to automotive industries
and other consumer-goods applications, which determine new requiremen
ts to the properties of thermally stable elastomers.
