Mathematical modeling of network structures on a body-centered lattice
was performed; it was demonstrated that their free volume is signific
antly controlled by the distance between the network junctions, wherea
s the effect of chain flexibility is less pronounced. Experimental inv
estigation of the effect of the concen- tration of cross-linking agent
and temperature on the structural parameters of diethyl acrylamide co
polymers; cross-linked with N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide revealed that
increasing the temperature from 20 degrees C (this temperature is belo
w the LCST of the copolymer) to 40 degrees C (i.e., above the LCST cau
ses a significant (by 5-20 times) variation of equilibrium swelling an
d the volume of system; the decrease in (M) over bar(c) is smaller (by
1.2-2 times) and coincides with the calculated data. Permeability of
hydrogel films to various compounds was also measured.
