Gy. Perry et Em. Kosar, PROBLEMS IN MANAGING PATIENTS WITH LONG QT SYNDROME AND IMPLANTABLE CARDIOVERTER-DEFIBRILLATORS - A REPORT OF 2 CASES, PACE, 19(5), 1996, pp. 863-867
Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) have been a successful
adjunct to the management of arrhythmias in patients with Long QT synd
rome (LQTS). In two patients, interactions between LQTS and the ICD we
re diagnosed and corrected. Oversensing of T waves was confirmed in th
e first, while in the second, the arrhythmia disappeared when T wave a
bnormalities improved after cessation of H-2 blocker therapy. In patie
nts with LQTS and an ICD, T wave oversensing should be considered. int
erventions that may have an adverse effect on repolarization should be
avoided.
