Abstract
Study of the Coniacian-Senonian ichthyofauna of In Becetem (Niger) has led to the discovery of ten new species of Polypteriformes, regrouped into three genera, two of which are new. The third one, the present P olypterus is now known at least since the Upper Cretaceous. Two specie s are characterized by asymmetrical pinnules which should be inclined at about 45 degrees alternately on the right and on the left when erec t.
