Flare-up atopic dermatitis are clearly elicited by nonspecific as well
as allergic factors that both deserve consideration. Food allergy, in
halant allergens, fungi and microbia allergens must be very carefully
assessed since skin tests and sensitization do not necessarily implica
te clinical involvement for dermatologic lesions. Allergologic investi
gation should be specially dedicated to severe and moderate atopic der
matitis that are non controlled by dermocorticosteroids. The results o
f systematic allergologic survey are summarized emphazing the importan
ce of looking for contact dermatitis in atopy.
