`Ophthalmic examination of a 6-week-old beef calf revealed epiphora in
both eyes. The epiphora resulted in moistening of a large wedge-shape
d area of alopecia ventral to the margin of the eyelid, fanning out to
the ventral aspect of the ramus of each mandible. An attempt was made
to create a deeper lacrimal lake at the medial canthus by performing
a medial canthoplasty, and to enlarge the puncta. Both puncta and lacr
imal canaliculi of the left eye were cannulated with O-polypropylene t
o enhance visibility. An 8-month follow-up revealed that the calf was
doing well, and the epiphora had resolved completely.
