Factors influencing calf survival and methods of reducing these losses are discussed. Reducing dystocia, nutritional management, precalving vaccination, clean calving environment, and training procedures in cal ving management are some areas explored in order to prevent the signif icant economic loss of neonatal calf death to the cattle industry.
