NONASODIUM BIS(HEXAHYDROXOALUMINATE) TRIHYDROXIDE HEXAHYDRATE

The Al atoms are six-coordinate and exist as monomeric [Al(OH)(6)](3-) anions in the title compound, Na-9[Al(OH)(6)](2)(OH)(3).6H(2)O. The N a+ cations also show octahedral coordination geometry and are coordina ted by OH- ions and water molecules; six Na+ cations are coordinated b y five hydroxyl groups and one water molecule, while the other three a re coordinated by four hydroxyl groups and two water molecules. These NaO6 octahedra are linked through common edges, incorporating the AlO6 octahedra, to yield a three-dimensional network.
