Abstract
The title compound {octacaesium silicodecatungstate nonahydrate, Cs-8[ SiW10O36].9H(2)O} is the first caesium salt of the heteropolyoxometala te anion gamma-[SiW10O36](8-). The stability of the well known heterop olyanion depends on the size of the alkali metal cations. The polyanio ns are connected into infinite columns by Cs cations.
