The crystal structure of a second polymorph of [Pd(CH3)(C6H5)(C10H8N2)
], containing four crystallographically independent molecules, is pres
ented and compared with the structure of the previously reported polym
orph [Markies et al. (1994). J. Organomet. Chem. 482, 191-199] contain
ing only one crystallographically independent molecule. In both polymo
rphs molecules lie in infinite stacks, surrounded by six similar stack
s; the main difference between the two polymorphs is about 23 degrees
in the tilt angle of the coordination plane with reference to the stac
king direction.
