Abstract
The structure of the title compound, diethyl benzo[b]thiophene-2,3-dis ulfinate, C12H14O4S3, is composed of an essentially planar benzothioph ene moiety containing two ethylsulfonyl groups which are oriented in o pposite directions. The mean values of the important bond distances ar e S--C-sp3 1.762 (4), endocyclic S--C-sp2 1.725 (1), exocyclic S--C-sp 2 1.786 (3) and S=O 1.435 (1) Angstrom.
