WHEN MOTHERS OF ADULT DAUGHTERS DIE - A NEW AREA OF FEMINIST PRACTICE

This article proposes a new area of feminist practice: bereavement wor k with adult daughters whose mothers died. It reviews the dynamics of the loss of the mother in the context of societal repression of grievi ng and the devaluation of women's roles as mothers and provides basic information for personal and professional interventions, including an educational workshop for women whose mothers died or who wish to prepa re for their mothers' death.
