Abstract
Basic research in vulvar cancer results in new prognostic variables su ch as human papillomavirus DNA and epidermal growth factor receptor le vel. It also suggests that p53 mutants are involved in the pathogenesi s of this disease. However, histopathological parameters of the lymph nodes, such as capsule breakthrough are the most significant prognosti cators for patient survival.
