Abstract
This paper reports the finding of 3 specimens of Psychodopygus complex us, captured in the Paragominas region of Para State, Brazil, naturall y infected with trypanosomatids that were positively identified as Lei shmania (Viannia) braziliensis. Attention is drawn to the importance o f this species as a vector since it is highly anthropophilic and has a very extensive geographical distribution in the lower Amazon region o f Para State south of the Amazon river, including the island of Marajo .
