PILOMATRICOMA-LIKE ENDOMETRIOID ADENOSQUAMOUS CARCINOMA OF THE OVARY WITH NEUROENDOCRINE DIFFERENTIATION

A case of high-grade endometrioid adenosquamous carcinoma of the ovary showing pilomatricoma-like areas and neuroendocrine differentiation i s presented. The pilomatricoma-like areas were strongly positive for c ytokeratin and vimentin, whereas the poorly differentiated areas of th e tumor were positive for cytokeratin, synaptophysin, and neuron-speci fic enolase. Review of the literature did not show any published repor t of adenosquamous carcinoma with pilomatricoma-like areas either in t he ovary or in the uterus. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
