We calculate collision strengths and collision rates for electron exci
tation of the 2P(1/2)(o)-P-2(3/2)o ground term finestructure transitio
n in Fe XIV, the coronal green line at 5303 Angstrom. The collision st
rength for the green line is found to be strongly enhanced by resonanc
es for the first 4 Rydberg above the excitation threshold, and as a re
sult the collision rates are found to be significantly larger than oth
er recently published results, even at coronal temperatures. The calcu
lations are carried out using the R-matrix formulation of the close-co
upling approximation.
