Abstract
Carbon black, CB, loaded immiscible polypropylene/polycarbonate blends exhibit low resistivity values at low CB contents. CB is preferential ly located in the PC phase, which is dispersed throughout the PP matri x in the form of numerous small particles encountering one another and forming conductive networks. A co-continuous structure is not essenti al for promoting low resistivity - apparently, the interfacial propert ies of CB/polymer pairs, in combination with the polymers' individual features - polarity, crystallinity, viscosity, influence the blend mor phology which, in turn, affects the electrical resistivity.
