Scale-up studies on different types of bioreactors having in mind the
biotransformation of solid waste (cassava bagasse) from cassava starch
production by Rhizopus fungi in solid state fermentation was realised
. The results showed that the bioreactors tray like type were the ones
that had best performance on scale-up studies of 1:100. The effect of
thickness of the fermentation bed in that type of bioreactor showed u
s that it is possible its operation on layers from 6 to 8 cm without c
onsiderable loss to the growth of the fungi. After the biotransformati
on the flour of cassava bagasse obtained showed an absency of undesira
ble bacteria and perfectly inside the microbiological standards demand
ed by the existing law. The final of real proteins was about 13.5 g/10
0g of dried cassava bagasse in biorector type tray.
