Abstract
In this paper we show by solving the inversion problem at high energie s that the fundamental McIntyre parametrization of the S matrix, for h eavy-ion collisions, will correspond to a Woods-Saxon-type optical mod el potential. The parameters of such a Woods-Saxon potential are direc tly related to the corresponding parameters of the McIntyre parametriz ation. The inversion solution results were tested for the available ex perimental data and were found to be in good agreement.
