The incompressibility of nuclear matter K, the Coulomb coefficient K-c
, and the volume-symmetry coefficient K-vs of the nucleus incompressib
ility are studied using the relativistic mean field theory. It is foun
d that K = 300+/-50 MeV is necessary to account for the empirical valu
es of K, K-c, and K-vs, simultaneously, if the scaling model is valid.
The result is independent of the details of the sigma-meson self-inte
raction and is almost independent of the strength of the omega-meson s
elf-interaction. However, a wider range of K may be available, if devi
ations from the scaling model are important.
