A cohort of 68 patients (71 eyes) who had simultaneous surgery for gla
ucoma and cataract with a minimum of 6 months follow up was analyzed.
Fifty-nine percent achieved an improvement in Snellen visual acuity to
6/12 or more after surgery, but 84% had improved vision by a mean of
3.9 Snellen lines. After surgery, intraocular pressure (IOP) was contr
olled in 89% of eyes; in 73%, this occured without any ocular hypotens
ive therapy. The mean time to visual stabilization was 4.6 months.
