Abstract
We apply optimal control techniques to maximize the absorptionless ind ex of refraction, the density-dependent piezophotonic switching betwee n absorption and amplification, and the ground-state energy-level-spac ing-dependent magnetophotonic switching of susceptibility in a dense m edium of coherently prepared three-level systems.
