J. Pruski et al., CATALYTIC CRACKING OF HYDROCARBONS IN A NOVEL RISER SIMULATOR - LUMP ADSORPTION PARAMETERS UNDER REACTION CONDITIONS, Chemical Engineering Science, 51(10), 1996, pp. 1799-1806
Research on the adsorption phenomena present during fluidized catalyti
c cracking of hydrocarbons was carried out utilizing a novel unit deve
loped at CREC-UWO: the Riser Simulator reactor. A series of cracking e
xperiments were carried out using commercial gas oils and cracking cat
alysts which resembled the ones used in industrial FCC units. Determin
ation of the adsorption coefficients of the various hydrocarbon lumps
was possible using mass lump balances and total pressure changes. Give
n experimental results and subsequent numerical analysis, it was found
that the adsorption coefficients were mainly related to molecular wei
ght and reaction temperature with the influence other factors being le
ss relevant.
