The general theory of relativity gives an absolutely covariant formula
tion of Helmholtz's laws of vorticity which is valid in arbitrary refe
rence systems. For small relative velocities u(i) (with u(i)u(i) much
less than epsilon(2)) these generally covariant laws deliver Helmholtz
's first law for a vorticity omega(i) in a rigidly rotating references
system d/dt(omega(i)-Omega(i)) = (omega(l) - Omega(1))u(l,i) with the
angular velocity Omega of the rotation.
