Abstract
The collapse of giant phosphatidylcholine vesicles was recorded by vid eo microscopy. The vesicle membranes transform into small particles wh ich seem to represent a multiply self-connected bilayer, possibly a cu bic phase. We estimate the lipid density of the black (or bright) part icles and the lateral tension rupturing the vesicle bilayers.
