Abstract
Two different strategies are used for the synthesis of 10-hydroxyellip ticine (1d) and 8,10-dimethoxyellipticine (1b); the pyrrolo[3,2-b]carb azole 13a and pyrrolo[2,3-b]carbazole 14 analogues of the dimethoxyell ipticine are also synthesised.
