Abstract
FRD, a nuclear and dominant spontaneous mutant of Saccharomyces cerevi
siae capable of growing in up to 2 M NaCl, was isolated. Compared with
parental cells, the mutant cells have a lower intracellular Na+/K+ ra
tio, shorter generation times in the presence of 1 hi NaCl, and altera
tions in gene expression.
