Bj. Alappat et Vc. Rane, SOLIDS CIRCULATION IN A RECIRCULATING FLUIDIZED-BED UNDER STICKY CONDITIONS, INDIAN JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND MATERIALS SCIENCES, 3(3), 1996, pp. 91-95
Experiments have been carried out on a semicircular transparent recirc
ulating fluidized bed (RCFB) cold model to study the circulation under
sticky conditions and to foresee the likely problems of the actual in
cinerator operations. It is observed that the circulation rate decreas
ed with increase in stickiness. Auxiliary air supplied as downcomer ae
ration and/or side push below the draft tube bottom facilitated the so
lids movement and increased the circulation rates. Therefore, it is po
ssible to operate the unit at higher stickiness with proper auxiliary
air supply. The problems encountered during the operation of the RCFB
under sticky conditions and the corresponding alterations in the desig
n of an incinerator are also discussed.
