To reduce radiation exposure to patients and staff during neurointerve
ntional procedures, region-of-interest (ROI) techniques were used with
fluoroscopy, road mapping, and digital subtraction angiography in 19
patients. ROI filters, made of multiple layers of gadolinium, were att
ached to the collimators. Patient skin exposure was reduced by a facto
r of 3.3-10.0 across 85% of the field of view, and exposures were redu
ced to below thresholds for skin effects.
