Abstract
Relativistic distorted-wave calculations have been performed for the e xcitation of the 5(1,3) D-2 state from the ground state of cadmium by polarised and unpolarised electrons. A full set of state multipoles of experimental interest have been obtained for 20 and 40 eV collision e nergies. From these results we have calculated the Stokes parameters o f the light emitted in the decay to the relevant P states.
