Abstract
The inductive-resonant mechanism of nonradiative transitions between e lectronic levels in lanthanoid and transition metal ions and complex m olecules in condensed phase is systematically described. A quantum mec hanical justification is presented, and theoretical predictions, inclu ding the values of nonradiative transition rate constants, are compare d with experiment.
