Ja. Ye, NUMERICAL-SIMULATION OF PARTICLE CONCENTRATION AT THE EXIT OF A DIRECT INJECTED ABRASIVE WATERJET NOZZLE, Particulate science and technology, 14(1), 1996, pp. 75-88
A computational fluid dynamics method has been used to predict the lik
ely concentration distribution at the exit of a direct injected abrasi
ve waterjet nozzle. Particle trajectories were simulated and the conce
ntration at the nozzle exit is obtained by simulating a statistically
significant large number of particles. The study takes into considerat
ion the effect of the tapered nozzle inlet angle and the randomness in
flow fluctuation and particle size distribution. No published experim
ental data appear to be available. Validation of predictions is by com
parison with experimental data for free air jets.
