An inhibition effect of PdCl2 on the rate of oxidation of sugars, by a
lkaline hexacyanoferrate(III) has been observed. The order of reaction
s in hexacyanoferrate(III) and OH- is zero and unity, respectively, wh
ile that in sugars decreases From unity al higher sugar concentration.
The kinetic data and spectrophotometric evidence support the formatio
n of {Pd-II - (sugar)} and {Pd-II - sugar)(2)} complexes and their res
