Abstract
A general synthetic entry to the tetracyclic ring system of silicine-m ethuenine alkaloids, involving the partial hydrogenation of dihydropyr idines 2 followed by PPSE-induced cyclization of the resulting tetrahy dropyridine esters 3, is reported.
