Abstract
This paper presents the computer modelling and modal analysis of a com plicated multiquantum-well waveguide structure with active gain by usi ng the modified vector finite element formulation. With the modified f ormulation, solving the resultant eigensystem by a subspace iteration sparse solver is made easier and faster. From the computing results, s ome interesting phenomena about the relations of field profiles to mat erial parameters and waveguide structures are revealed and discussed.
