Jm. Rius et al., INTEGRAL FORMULATION OF THE MEASURED EQUATION OF INVARIANCE - A NOVELSPARC MATRIX BOUNDARY-ELEMENT METHOD, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 32(3), 1996, pp. 962-967
A novel integral formulation of the Measured Equation of Invariance me
thod is derived from the reciprocity theorem. This formulation uses th
e electric and magnetic Green's functions of the environment to obtain
a matrix equation for the induced surface current with the same numbe
r of unknowns as the conventional Boundary Element - Method of Moments
(BE-MoM) approach. However, the matrix that must be inverted in the n
ew formulation is sparse and circulant, with only three non-zero eleme
nts per row. Sample results for two-dimensional TM and TE problems wit
h perfectly conducting scatterers show enormous CPU time and memory sa
vings over the conventional BEM-MoM approach. The new formulation has
important advantages over the original finite difference formulation o
f MEI, but also shares some of its limitations.
