Abstract
A CAD system for the analysis of power electronic circuits for EMC app lications is being developed. The system is based on 3-dimensional fin ite-element electromagnetic field computations, with the source curren ts or voltages extracted either from measurements or from standard cir cuit analysis. The finite-element solver for this application is confi gured in terms of magnetic vector potential ((A)under-bar) and modifie d electric scalar potential (V-1), incorporating, usually, the Coulomb gauge del.(A)under-bar=0. Comparisons of computed electromagnetic fie lds with measurements of fields emitted from a 600V, 300A IGBT switchi ng circuit are reported. Agreement in magnetic field strength is fair (within 8dB mu A/m) at the low frequencies (10kHz-20kHz) considered fo r this paper.
