Abstract
The effective mass of a large polaron is calculated using the extended phonon coherent state proposed in our previous paper. In the weak-cou pling limit, the mass expansion obtained can reproduce the fourth-orde r perturbative result. Moreover, in the intermediate-coupling range, t he calculated results are in good agreement with those of other approa ches.
