Abstract
Regiospecific N- or C-benzylations of 2-pyridone are observed in solve nt-free conditions in the absence of base. The regioselectivity is con trolled by the heating technique (microwave irradiation or conventiona l heating) or, using microwaves, by the emitted power or the leaving g roup of benzyl halides.
