Selective reduction of the diacyloxyspirotellurane 1 with lithium alum
inium hydride gave the acyloxyalkoxyspirotellurane 2 and dialkoxyspiro
tellurane 3, respectively. The X-ray crystal structure analysis of 2 (
R = 0.020) reveals distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry about tellu
rium, similar to structures previously determined for other spirotellu
ranes.
